Methodology

How we approach the evidence

Belief Origins is documentary, not devotional. The same standards apply to every tradition, and uncertainty is stated plainly.

  1. Separates people from beliefs.

  2. Distinguishes historical claims from faith claims.

  3. Follows scholarly consensus where it exists.

  4. Shows disagreement where consensus does not.

  5. Applies the same evidentiary standards to every belief system.
